Legacy homeowners who possess homes and wait for the 'value' of that home to appreciate before selling it are scum.
It artificially pushes the cost of homeownership up for everyone.
Is it huge?
I honestly just started musing because we had our first Discord-server-wide PC death in a long-form D&D campaign. LOL
And in the grand scheme of things, I feel that's a better way to play - it allows a STORY to be told from the basis of the characters, rather than the story being the story and the characters being interchangeable and unimportant. All the BEST stories have compelling characters, not just narratives.
We put thought and effort and emotionality into our characters. We flesh them out as personalities long before they delve their first dungeon - when they die (even though character death isn't necessarily permanent) it feels heavier than it did.
We don't simply 'rename and reroll' anymore.

This is not to say that we didn't have our 'favorite' PCs back in the day, but we didn't spend as much time building their history... with recent editions, it's wrapped into the creation of the character itself.

As a result of this, I would say that "character death" hits a bit harder now.

The thing I have noticed with 5e is that people get very attached to their characters - in part because the books encourage players to develop histories (with actual "Background" character benefits) - the game actively leans into the "character backstory" angle.

Gary and the gang had the understanding that death for PCs was an "occupational hazard" and even designed adventures to virtually assure that occurrence.

The take-away was: to not get TOO attached to your character (and also to have multiple PCs running simultaneously)

Fast-forward to 5e.

Something I've been thinking about lately...

Character death in TTRPGs.

"Back in the day" (yes, I am THAT old) we rolled characters, explored dungeons with those PCs, slew monsters and occasionally died... but the 1e DMG goes out of its way to encourage us to roll more than one character.

COATES: “Trump’s saying, ‘Y’all, I’m just gonna kill people.’ And the Greatest Deliberative Body has nothing to say about it. Y’all are punk, y’all are cowards.”
“Tell your children who the cowards were.”
Yup.
If you need a quick V:TM adventure, then pay attention to these rules. #vamily #vampirethemasquerade #tabletopgames #RPGs
That feeling when you built an entire plan to have a Hallowe'en theme to your D&D episode that happened to fall on Hallowe'en... but lost track of time, schedule changes and real-life stuff... only to find that the upcoming episode will in fact have the encounter you were planning - timing-wise! 😋
Did he get it from Kristi Noem? Are those trenchcoats ICE standard issue?
He found it in his grandfather's attic along with a book and thought his granddad was into war re-enactment?
The reich-wing has been 'Wait... now Nazi uniforms are offensive to the left?"

Yeah, pumpkin... nazi uniforms have been offensive to the left for nearly 90 fucking years.
If you wear one, you deserve a punch and I will laugh when it happens.
You need to shut your borders and not let the Americans across.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

This is such a great callout…

Does your Christian church have a plan to help the community when SNAP benefits don’t go out in November?

If not, you’re at the wrong church.
No... no... that's incorrect.
Yes, they DO have to admit they were wrong - because other people were yelling at them for months warning them that this exact bullshit was going to happen.
And the reich-wing did it anyway - to "own the libs".
Contrition before forgiveness.
"what to be doing instead"

ASMR? Reading a novel series? Paint miniatures?
Something low-stress.
It's got to be "not work" - that's the fastest way to burn out hard.

You must find something that you actually - genuinely - enjoy... and if you stream it, do so because of your enjoyment... don't worry about production values, deadlines or w/e... just "have fun playing".
"All the games i play are stream games.
All the writing i do is for stream projects."

Step back from it.
It's either that or you dive further down the rabbit hole.

Anyone concerned about the recent influx of "government" accounts to BlueSky merely has to start reading the posts they make.
Stay vigilant!
