Democrats almost always prefer to follow polls over actually leading. The fact that they're *not* following polls on ICE (which a plurality of voters want to abolish) tells us a lot about who they actually work for.
Indeed. Progressive Democrats in the Senate should be pushing to slash, decrease (if not just zero out) ICE funding - instead of looking to maintain the status quo of "zero increases."

The status quo shouldn't be acceptable.
Zero increases is not actually good.

Every accusation is a confession, part 2 million
It is really fucking with my head to know they are spinning that lie about Renee Good wanting to run over the ICE officer in part bc running over protesters with cars is something their side does. It was top of mind for them. A lie they can believe in bc they would do it/have done it themselves.

We wake today still shaken, scared, enraged.

The August 8 shooting at CDC did not happen in a vacuum--it grew from years of attacks on public health by people like RFK Jr. and Russell Vought, who are 'putting us in trauma' ...just like they promised.

Faced with a high profile budget battle, elected Democrats will be like "why bother with this fight, our vote doesn't matter, it won't change the outcome" and then wonder why ordinary citizens sit out an election and think "why bother with this, my vote doesn't matter, it won't change the outcome"
Axios: House Dems have procedural tools to try to save PBS and NPR but refuse to use them.

“House Democrats are largely shooing away the idea of trying to make Republicans miss their deadline to codify around $9 billion in DOGE cuts to public broadcasting and foreign aid, Axios has learned...” 1/
Scoop: House Democrats shrug off delay tactics to stall Mike Johnson's DOGE vote
"People would be really unhappy after what he did on July 4," said one House Democrat.

I for one think it was cool and good that nothing was done in the last four years of Democratic control to rein in the Supreme Court, I'm glad the norm respecters won out and we're all living in a rich norm-filled paradise today.

These people could not wait for widespread ethnic cleansing, because they told themselves it would be an easy, bloodless event.

Also, to own the libs. And now that they see what it means, they, continuing to be childish, are trying to escape culpability for what they eagerly cheered on.

Drafted about 3 different posts about this but I honestly don't know what to say anymore. This death cult has been openly cheering the death of poor and uninsured Americans since the 2012 Republican presidential primary debates. So tired of this.

When the crowd said people will die due to Medicaid and SNAP cuts, she said: "well we all are going to die." 🫠🫠🫠🫠

NEW: A deportation case exposes a rift among Democrats over how to take on Trump

One camp sees a pivotal moment to lean in and fight a lawless move.

Another camp sees a trap and wants to pivot to hitting Trump on his growing economic vulnerability.

Abrego Garcia's deportation case exposes a rift among Democrats over how to take on Trump
As some Democrats vocally push for the release of the man the administration says was mistakenly deported, others have sought to steer clear and focus on high prices and economic issues.

"Just go back" was attempted under Joe Biden. That approach failed spectacularly at a strategic level even if the administration did a lot of good over those 4 years.

Things will need to fundamentally change moving forward if we survive this moment
fundamentally, "just go back" is never an adequate response to this kind of constitutional crisis. it just doesn't work. and that's why, among other things, any project of American Reconstruction *must* involve the revitalization of Congress as an active force
