The US announced its withdrawal from WHO last January. the divorce is messy.
"In this divorce analogy, it would be like: She locks her door and [says], 'You can't come and get your clothes.' " Except in this case it'd be viral specimens and disease outbreak data."

The divorce between the U.S. and WHO is final this week. Or is it?
The U.S. is the only country allowed to withdraw from the World Health Organization. And Jan. 22 is the day when Trump's pullout announcement should go into effect. But ... it's complicated.

Listen, I think teens on X is scary. But being barring them from online society is scarier.

The problem, of course, is that one of our two political parties has organized itself around a world of “alternative facts” in which the meaning of words and independently-verifiable evidence are irrelevant. If J6 can be a “day of love,” then lots of swearing at Bovino can be an Insurrection.
The Insurrection Act does require an actual insurrection. The violence in Minneapolis is almost exclusively one-sided. People yelling at you, calling you names, and recording you on a cell phone isn’t violence. And if the courts let Trump say it is, we’re in a lot of trouble.

It’ll be dangerously cold this weekend in the Twin Cities. Windchills will reach -20°. With how violently ICE is grabbing people, they might not be dressed for the weather, especially if ICE keeps dumping people miles from their home or car without their phone. Frostbite hits quickly at these temps.
