In 2002, DeLauro voted against the act that created ICE.

She can absolutely remember a time before ICE. She just can't seem to recall that, a long time ago, she used to have courage.
I don’t excuse this because everyone should be learning and evolving as they grow older, but I think there’s a generation of Americans, who absolutely cannot fathom a world without police enforcement of everything.
“Renee Goodman [sic], Alex Pretti – there are no words,” DeLauro said.

“You said there were no words after the murder of those two individuals,” said Rev. Jack Perkins Davidson. “I think the words are ‘Abolish ICE.’”

36 Views of My Breasts: A trans body memoir

In this print adaptation of her one woman show of the same name, Sainwood offers a lens for reflection and a framework for reimagining our bodies as patient creations who’ll welcome us back.

I wish current events would stop giving me material for future digital humanities / computational text analysis classes illustrating how, if you're searching a corpus at scale, you really need to be careful and actually look at your results to make sure it's doing what you think it is.
The word don't is censored. Don't, or Don T. If you're looking for just some fun proof they're doing control+f censoring

Just had two poems accepted by my dream journal, @eldiagram.bsky.social!

It includes the most complicated piece I've ever written, inspired by the trading quests in The Legend of Zelda 🎮

My co-author Dr. Megan Condis and I gathered nearly 3,000 print ads from the console wars era to analyze whether the popular narrative that "Sega was for rad teens and Nintendo was for babies" actually holds up.

The results paint a slightly more nuanced picture.

Read about it on @aftermath.site!

Congressional Democrats are not asking to defund ICE, let alone abolish it.

This is because they also like using the government to harm marginalized folks. They're just less gaudy about it.

Schumer and his ilk are fundamentally just Republicans in disguise.

Support socialists, not Democrats.

This semester I’ve started taking attendance @ "Intro to Film" screenings by having students complete brief exit survey. They pick an adjective to describe what they watched and explain why. I make a word cloud and share at our next class. Here’s how my ~75 students described IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE.

Looking like Rehmet will win SD9, a +17 Trump district, by 15 points. The district hasn't elected a Democrat since 1991. Wow.
Hard to overstate how big a deal a Rehmet win would be. Tarrant County is the epicenter of Christian nationalism in Texas, an incubator for far-right policies, and nexus of billionaire Tim Dunn's network, which is riding hard for Wambsganss. Rehmet almost entirely funded by donations of $100 or less
‼️‼️ Still a lot TBD, but Rehmet is leading early vote count by **13 POINTS** in a district that Trump won by 17 points. I'll be updating in this thread throughout the night.

Also a great nugget for all book historians, professional vintagers worked in revolutionary America to ensure that pamphlets were stained and foxed immediately after printing to look real and „old“. They probably did this in Boston with tea.
