It is political- or rather it becomes so, as this fear, frustration is used by demagogues. It's the basis of the GOP

North Carolina as of today has implemented a draconian law that makes it more difficult for people to be released pretrial. It eliminates entirely pretrial release with a written notice to appear, which is, quite frankly, the most retrograde thing I've seen.

We have to put an end to that school thing. So unproductive!

Please stop complaining that the cast of Stranger Things is too old. The show takes place in the 80s. Back then children were smoking a pack a day, taking shots between classes, and working in the coal mines after school. If anything, the kids should have been replaced with actors in their late 50s.

Never mind the state violence of taking away people's food and housing, their health care, and right to breathe air that doesn't kill them. The USA did almost nothing for the two worst societal crises in my memory -- the 2008 crash and the opioid overdose epidemic.

I agree with this critique although I will add that my critique (additionally) is that these stories do not discuss STATE VIOLENCE, like, you know, the goons kidnapping folks on the street and leaving children in the car.
Yet another long feature article about political violence that refuses to acknowledge the basic reality that right-wing violence is far more common than left-wing violence.

Homelessness in the U.S. is far more pervasive than the official figures suggest: roughly four million people are without housing right now.

Many are part of the low-wage labor force, powering the very economy that has abandoned them.

I spoke with PBS News about this devastating reality (Part 1):

a few candidates have talked about this but any Dem planning to run in 2028 should make it explicit: the next DOJ will, in fact, go after you if you’re funding this awful ballroom, or any other pay to play deals you make with this administration
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

It is recommended to abide by that slogan every day. A minimum purchase of 14 teeshirts to wear everyday and avoid doing laundry too frequently 😵‍💫
You don't have to buy anything for Black Friday. But if you want to, you don't need to feed Jeff Bezos's gluttonous bank account. You can buy from small independent businesses that make weird things. For example, tonight's Low Quality Ad, this weird Garfield Miller Time shirt.
