It'd be swell if, ideally, the absolute worst people imaginable weren't in charge of anything.

Two dozen masked ICE Federal Secret Police, who are kitted out like they are going to war, kidnap a local and brutalize the community.

Toward the end of the video, they throw a gas cannister that almost hits a baby. 😟

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

Note that all these chatbots are made by billionaire sex pests, who are desperately trying to make other people see humans the same way they do: inanimate objects to be used for one's own whims.

The people making these, openly say they see other people as NPC's.

The thing about these guys forming relationships with chatbots is that they will start treating actual women like the chatbots.

And when real women don't fawn, don't glaze them the way these digital yes men do, express opinions, they will view them as *defective* chatbots.

Something this book really drilled home (scuse the pun) is that we're not stalled out on climate because scientists didn't model hard enough or campaigners didn't come up with the perfect message, but because the world's most powerful spent gazillions to sabotage action.

Trump just bombed six more people in the Caribbean, for a total of 27 civilians who have been killed so far by the US military. It’s illegal for the military to target civilians who do not pose an immediate threat. This is murder.

Trump is no longer even pretending to have any kind of argument that his murdering of people in the Caribbean Sea has any kind of statutory validity. Just straight up declaring that he has quasi-unlimited power to execute people based on (nominal) suspicion.

🏥 55 healthcare workers from Gaza were released today in the prisoner exchange, according to Healthcare Workers Watch. The group includes 24 nurses, 7 doctors, and 2 paramedics—most abducted directly from hospitals and held up to 22 months in detention and torture facilities.

At least 115 medical staff from Gaza remain imprisoned, including 20 doctors and 15 senior specialists. HWW said Israel’s systematic abduction of healthcare workers is a war crime that has led to the “decimation of Gaza’s hospital workforce.”

Director of Al-Awda Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Mhanna, was also released today. It remains unclear whether Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya was among those freed. His family had said he was placed on a reserve list for release but has not yet confirmed any update. Palestinian hospital staff and well-wishers welcome the director of northern Gaza's Al-Awda Hospital Dr. Ahmad Mhanna, who was detained by Israeli forces from the hospital on 18 December 2023.

Between this, the resegregation of the military, and the retooling of the Department of Justice to focus on (fake) discrimination against white Christians, and eviscerating Civil Rights Act enforcement, they have nearly erased the structural legacy of the Civil Rights Movement.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.
