Jessica Berman was previously announced as a keynote speaker at the ESPNW Summit.

The current agenda no longer lists Berman as a speaker, and the keynote conversation with Hannah Storm is now with "a speaker to be announced."

Enjoyed discovering the backstory of #49ers LB Dee Winters, a cowboy at heart from a speck-on-the-map Texas town.

“Dee shows up in some old coveralls with his boots on. He’d just come from the feed store and said he was going to go ride horses."

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Both Bari and MattY quit their jobs and pretended they were fired so they could promote their substacks. Neither have ever been cancelled or interesting

As one of the countless people *actually* cancelled by Bari Weiss, via her vast favor-trading networks of fellow nepotistic gatekeepers in media and publishing, I think both of these asinine dipshits should go fuck themselves.

I didn’t rejoice at her cancellation and got cancelled myself at roughly the same time, but I am sincerely jealous that no regime-aligned billionaire has even fit to curry favor with the Trump administration by giving me a huge sum of money.

The vitriol against Bari Weiss is just thinly-veiled jealousy by people who rejoiced at "cancelling" her in 2020 and are furious she managed to get fabulously wealthy in an infamously brutal and low-paying industry.

Her explicit reason for leaving, by the way, was that when she live-tweeted a staff meeting and accused her colleagues of hating free speech and they publicly pushed back, management refused to discipline them for arguing with her. You can understand most contemporary media dynamics from that alone.

It's amazing how everyone supporting her seems to forget she wasn't cancelled at all. She quit. And almost immediately was able to launch this new publication. How the hell was she cancelled?

Some people criticized shitty takes. That's not being cancelled.

I find this amusing when tech-savvy MLB front offices are apparently wary of analysts dependent on AI. The messages this sends?
"This is for you online consumer prols, not for us in a meatspace industry."
"Hey, at least the AI guys paid in cash, not crypto. Who do you think we are, Dave Kaval?"

Weiss isn’t a journalist. The FP clearly has a conservative viewpoint. Ellison is simply lying about why he bought the FP and put CBS News in Weiss’ hands. We do not have to take any of this at face value since we all have our own eyes and brains and the ability to evaluate what’s in front of us.

BREAKING— David Ellison, CEO of Paramount Skydance, just sent out this email to Paramount employees re: The Free Press acquisition/Bari Weiss. Says she has passion for "rigorous, fact-based reporting & a relentless commitment to amplifying voices from all corners of the spectrum."

Text shared w me:
Dear Team Paramount:

I think we can all agree that the temperature of our nation's social discourse feels higher than ever. Too often, the space once reserved for thoughtful dialogue has been consumed by partisan division and hostile disputes. If we are to move forward, we must find our way back to the ideals that shaped both our country and civilization itself: open exchange of ideas, vigorous yet respectful debate, and a genuine regard for the beliefs and traditions of others.

This challenge extends to the media. While it was founded with the mission of informing the public and fostering discussion on the issues of the day, too often it has become a platform that amplifies the very partisanship tearing our society apart. George Washington warned that the primary danger in politics is partisanship. Today, that danger extends far beyond politics - threatening the fabric of our communities. When we reduce every issue to "us vs. them" or "my way vs. the wrong way," we close ourselves off from listening, learning, and ultimately growing, both as individuals and as a society.

I don't pretend to have a solution to this challenge. But I do believe we each have a responsibility to do our part. At Paramount, we have both a unique opportunity and an obligation as stewards of one of the most iconic and respected news organizations in the world. We are challenging ourselves to do better - recognizing that we have the ability to reach a broad audience and demonstrate constructive, respectful, and bipartisan dialogue in our own work.
Our mission is clear: to ensure that this global platform remains a place where people can seek the truth, gain understanding, and engage with the facts. That is our purpose.

With this in mind, I am excited to share that The Free Press is joining our Company. Since its launch just five years ago, The Free Press, under cofounder Bari Weiss' leadership,

Too true. My brief run writing about homes and home furnishings for the Washington Blade was fun, fun as well as a stretch, but also not something I was especially good at or something I could do for long. I gave it a spin to see what I could do, then walked away when I hit my limit.

* On Jones' leadership, accountablity
* Jones' worst throw was almost a killer
* Rams don't spend on LBs. It cost them

I was in the Navy when the Tailhook scandal exploded. I was in an oceanographic research unit led by a female commanding officer who, under Navy rules then, was unqualified to command a warship.

In his speech, Hegseth talked about returning to the standards of the 1990s. It's important to understand what the military was like back then, especially for women. Thanks to @rickperlstein.bsky.social for showing me this one

This is a must-read on why “compromising” with the GOP on trans medical care is a terrible idea. For example, puberty blockers WERE a compromise approach, but the right keeps dragging the Overton window sharply to their side.
