Claiming that routine immunization requirements for school are an issue of parental rights dehumanizes children. Kids have intrinsic rights just as anyone, and parents are obligated to provide the best care possible for them. That includes providing them with indicated medical interventions.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but do you know if anyone is evaluating straight up using HTML? Wordpress Gutenberg has shown that you can build a modern, predictable block editor experience that deserializes from the exact same HTML that you serve to visitors

How much fidelity are you thinking for the icons? First thing I thought of is a halftone radial gradient with a radius line. I made a google images screenshot mockup of the idea but idk whether it would scale down well

I should mention! It works with Bash, ZSH, and Fish. Windows builds will work with Powershell. It should theoretically work fine on Linux right now but I haven't tested it yet

Definitely Powershell! If nothing else, for my own sanity - trying to integrate with CMD is hellish. There's not even a good way to get a pty going with it tbh

CLI cookbook update: the first recipe is feature complete! It now handles optional arguments and spaces in paths. Next major steps are writing documentation, setting up installers and distribution, then more recipes!

I’ve been cooking on a new side project recently, and I’m really excited about it! It’s called Command Line Cookbook. It’s meant to be sort of like training wheels for the terminal, for people who are relatively computer literate but may not be comfortable in a text environment yet

There’s a final command section which is the template but with the values from the inputs substituted in for the tokens, and a button to insert the command into the terminal

In urban policy, it is considered bad for someone to be rent-burdened (spending at least 30% of their income on rent). But Cuomo's newly proposed law would *require* that people be rent-burdened. Absolutely insane.

New York, NY – Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, today announced ‘Zohran’s Law,’ a plan to protect the city’s rent-stabilized apartments from being occupied by high-income individauls, ensuring these limited, affordable units go to New Yorkers who actually need them.

Under Cuomo’s proposal, when a rent-stabilized apartment becomes vacant, the incoming individual income would be capped so that the annual rent makes up at least 30 percent of that income. For example, if an apartment rents for $2,500 a month ($30,000 per year), the new tenant’s income could not exceed $100,000.

New York City is in the grip of a housing emergency. The city does not have enough units, and the drastically low vacancy rate is driving up prices, squeezing families, and forcing many to leave in record numbers.

The decision follows a comprehensive review of mRNA-related investments initiated during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

“We reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and acted,” said HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “BARDA is terminating 22 mRNA vaccine development investments because the data show these vaccines fail to protect effectively against upper respiratory infections like COVID and flu. We’re shifting that funding toward safer, broader vaccine platforms that remain effective even as viruses mutate.”
