Let's not forget that in our culture, the overwhelming majority of serial killers (if we still regard that as a valid category) are white men. I think that has a lot to do with it.

The older I get, the less nice I am about jokes relating to serial killers. It just strikes me as pretty damning the way we don't really take serial killers for the horrendous individuals they are, that their victims don't matter, that their cruelty and violence is just a gag

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.
