also need people to not act like the only way you get to be a real writer is writing full time. it’s almost impossible to survive in a freelance arts career right now. should you be able to? sure. but we can’t sneer at the idea of prioritizing survival over embodying the ”art is suffering” fantasy

i have been trying to take better care of myself (more consistent dental and skincare etc) and unfortunately the benefit has been enough to compel me to do it even when i am deeply annoyed and just want to lie in bed in the dark
