It's a "whole new era at Amtrak," @amtrak.com President Roger Harris said Tuesday.

Its new Airo trains will debut on the Cascades this summer and East Coast in 2027, becoming the workhorse of Amtrak's fleet by replacing Amfleets that date to the 1970s.

The nearest major alternate airport is Albuquerque, 4 hours away. Is there a precedent for a US metro area just being cut off like this with no reason given? (San Juan got shut down in similar fashion, but not for 10 days.)

The FAA is closing the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, grounding all flights to and from the airport, for “special security reasons."

The FAA's notice did not provide additional details.

So much new passenger rail going on in Mexico these days (compared to prior decades). On February 2nd, the El Insurgente line (previously known as Tren Interurbano) extended 8.4 km to connect with the Mexico City Metro Line 1 at Observatorio station. It uses CAF EMUs in serving 57 km to Toluca.
El Insurgente creates an interchanage with Mexico City’s metro
MEXICO: The El Insurgente suburban rail service in Mexico City has been extended from Santa Fe to Observatorio, where meets metro Line 1.

lambasting the toll roads is such a silly opinion. Its no pinata lol. Its roads that actually pay for themselves, unlike the interstates and state roads. Tolls raising 100M each year to be used for trails, sidewalks, etc is one of the good policies going on here!

New paper finds that US bike deaths have "trended toward lower-density suburban areas" rather than central cities

Those killed tend to be poor and non-white.

Lesson: The suburbanization of poverty could be contributing to the surging number of cyclist fatalities.

Before Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin.
At 15, Colvin refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus which ignited the movement for transit justice and civil rights.
On #TransitEquityDay, we honor her legacy a future where mobility is a right, not a privilege.

After seeing United’s lacklustre centennial livery, I had to take my own cut at it. I tried to reflect the current brand while paying homage to its origins.

In 1990, of the 20 largest metro networks globally, 4 were in US & 8 in Europe.

Today, 13 are in China, 1 in US & 1 in Europe.

New York City's metro network (Subway/PATH) fell in the ranking from #3 to #15. Delhi's system will be longer than NYC's soon!
