I think the biggest difference with Flag Jr. And Sr. Is the fact that Jr. treated The Squad as human beings, with even Harley being one of his best friends, meanwhile Sr. only led the Commandos out of obligation and was easily swayed by Luthor
gonzaegonza91.bsky.social
Rick Sr is the type of dude Waller wanted Jr to be. Frank Grillo is Fantastic in showing how this Flags has done some dark s#it for the country and didn't want his son to end like him...
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
What I've liked about Flag Sr. In The DCU showcasing that him and his son are NOT the same character. Flag Sr. has been shown to be a lot more reckless and emotional than his son ever was. Its slight difference, but appreciate they weren't just like, "This is Rick Flag's father" and called it a day

Like I get it's hard for us to not respond to something, so I in particular shouldn't be too judgemental, BUT I do think instead of giving vague answers that give people the wrong idea, I think the best thing you can say in some comments is nothing
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
I think so far it's sort of a monkeys paw that Gunn is more active on the internet than Feige is. On the hand, he can actually shut down the bad faith (usually racists) idiots, but on the other hand I think he needs to learn when to stop responding to a point
kikoguzman.bsky.social
Just saying of Feige said the last 3 episodes of wonder man was some universe shaking stuff and all we got was like a maria hill revival then of course folks are gonna be pissy.
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
Like Chris' emotional journey and finding out the person he wants to be has always been at the core of the show, and that was the main thing that was resolved in the episode with the forming of Checkmate and his relationship with Harcourt. Really, the MOT teaser should've just been the post credits
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
Like I always have to give side eye to people who complain about superhero stuff being nothing but cameos and CGI fights, and then complain when something is NOT that. Like GI Robot killing Nazis in Earth X would've been cool, but wouldn't have served a purpose narrative other than a Deus Ex Machina
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
I think multiple things can be true in fact that Gunn overhyped the finale at little bit, and I do hope he does better at managing fan expectations in the future, but still prefer the type of tease we got instead of something like Kumail Nanjiani just showing up as Booster Gold for the sake of it
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
Also, something something allegory about government officials rounding up people that threaten them and sending them to a different location something
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
Also, about that cliffhanger, NOT the direction I expected Gunn to lean towards in The DCU, and if you can connects the dots, you can probably guess what storyline the ending is foreshadowing, but nonetheless, definitely interested to see how it plays out

While not as strong as S1 in some areas, Peacemaker S2 did great job in not only bringing 11th Street Kids into this new universe but serving as more of a character study with a mostly solid ending (That cliffhanger though 😡)

Can't wait see more of these characters in MOT and whenever Waller comes

So this season of #Peacemaker didn't end with a huge CGI battle and a million cameos, and I know how much people on the internet hate all that stuff, so I'm sure they'll be satisfied with the finale.

Yeah, I don't really wanna hear people complaining about MCU show cliffhangers after this, because what do you MEAN brother?!

(Doesn't hinder my enjoyment of the episode, mind you, I'm just being only SLIGHTLY hyperbolic)

Me after watching Peacemaker S2 Finale:

"Y'know that was a pretty solid ending. It didn't have a huge CG battle at the end or anything, but it didn't need to. But I'm wondering what the Man of Tomorrow connection wa-"

*5 minutes and a blue balls cliffhanger later*

Like the fact that it took THAT long for Warner Bros. until the 2010's to actually be like, "Oh yeah, DC does have more than two characters."
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
I recently saw the DCU Wonder Woman video by Black Lion and the part where he said the film will be the 5th film reboot in The DCU after Superman, Supergirl, Batman, and Swamp Thing, it made me realize how crazy it is Swamp Thing got a movie in the 80's decades before a bunch of other DC characters

Mahina hasn't been in a lot of stuff, but if you've seen Dead City, there's lot of Cassandra coded moments with her character in there. Particularly with her character being mute good portion of the show and her character having drive for revenge later on for the death of her father. Sound familiar?

DCU Batgirls Fancast:

Maya Hawke- Barbara Gordon/Oracle

Mahina Napoleon- Cassandra Cain

(Before you guys ask, yes this obviously means I would want Ethan Hawke to be Comissioner Gordon)

The only reason it worked for Infinity War/Endgame is those movies had 50+ characters. Fast and Furious has never been a series that's been well regarded for its narrative, so people don't care about a cliffhanger, because these characters have plot armor as thick as bricks
theericgoldman.bsky.social
It stands out to me that Fast & Furious and Mission: Impossible both made miscalculations by veering into "let's do a huge two-part story to (possibly) wrap it all up!" Some series are built best as one adventure at a time and don't need to get overly grandiose with multi-parters.

And I mean what's in the actual script, not made up shit in your head like, "Boss Baby is a metaphor for colonialism" or some shit
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
For me to call something truly bad writing, it has to fundamentally be something that makes zero logical sense or contradict everything that the writer is going for

Story direction. And I certainly don't fucking use it "Because Minorities."
cliffordbatteau.bsky.social
I took writing electives in high school. We were taught to view the story as it's told and make our conclusions from there. This is why I hate when "bad writing" is thrown around. If I myself call something bad writing, I MEAN IT. I'm not using hyperbole or because I personally don't agree with a-

If you ever whine about "bad writing" but have never written professionally, you have no idea what you're talking about.

"B-but you don't have to be a chef to-" Can it. You don't have to be a chef to DISLIKE food, but you better know a thing or two about food to call it "badly cooked."
