Speaking of which, rumor has it that not everything in the cafeteria and vending machines is really Vegan! If so, we clearly need to do something. Disgraceful!

During a military-style raid on a building in Chicago’s South Shore, one resident heard a knock on his door.

It wasn’t the feds —  it was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for help.

He let them hide in his unit for the next 3 days.

Yes.

The miles of “gold” in the Oval Office are a product of the same thing—a DESPERATE need for adulation.

Just had my first-ever experience of a delivery guy needing to collect a tariff from me in order to give me my package. Only a bank or cashier’s check is accepted, so no way for me to pay, I have to go to the bank tomorrow and the postman will try again. Very cool new system, America is great again

“Antifa” means anti-fascist.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

It’s on the Virginia side of Memorial Bridge, the circle where the parkway and traffic from over the bridge meet. It's NOT a pedestrian area, despite what the drawing shows. UGH

Malignant narcissism is a concept created to explain the psychological makeup of Hitler. Amazing that Trump fits it so well, no?

Mike Johnson: "We're so angry about it. I mean, I'm a very patient guy, but I've had it with these people. The theory we have right now -- they have a hate America rally that's scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall. It's the pro-Hamas wing and antifa people ... "

From an essay on "non-literacy". "The alternative is bleak—a TL;DR stamping on a human face, forever." Far too many young people (and those not-so-young) can't process complicated texts, "let alone subtexts. " I notice that I struggle with longer, complicated texts more than I used to. (1/2)

Doug Wilson co-authored a (plagiarized) book that defended the institution of slavery *as it was practiced in the antebellum South*. This is how Douthat introduced the subject while providing him with the NYT's platform:
Douthat: So, just to take a related example, one of the controversies of many that you’ve been mixed up in has to do with slavery, and whether slavery is absolutely forbidden by the Bible, absolutely forbidden to Christians, or whether it is critiqued, but allowed for.

Wilson: Right.

Douthat: And you think it is critiqued, but allowed for.

Wilson: Right.

Douthat: On this, on a straightforward reading of the New Testament, I would agree with you. I would say, pretty clearly, there is a pretty clear path from the message of the Bible to the abolition of slavery. But there is no moment in the New Testament when Jesus insists on the manumission of slaves.

Wilson: Right.
