It's Thanksgiving! Are you getting your eels ready? It's tradition!

The 1st Thanksgiving included a big table full of eels. And it's fitting. Tisquantum brought eels to the starving pilgrims that spring to celebrate their new treaty w/ the local Wampanoag tribe. 1/5

How Republicans commemorated Thanksgiving in 1869--with a multi-racial/multi-ethnic gathering of people at a table with a centerpiece celebrating universal suffrage and self-government, and with an engraving of Castle Garden, the pre-Ellis Island point of disembarkation for immigrants.

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

When he first announced in June that talks had resumed, he predicted that an agreement would be reached “in the next week or so.” More than four months later, no deal has been announced. Trump previously told reporters in the Oval Office on Sept. 30 that the White House had “reached a deal” for a settlement with Harvard before clarifying that the agreement had not yet been finalized. “All you have to do is paper it, right?” Trump said to McMahon. “It’ll be great.” Trump said in September that reaching a deal would mean that Harvard’s “sins are forgiven.” A settlement would likely resolve multiple federal investigations into the University, which have targeted everything from its ties to the Chinese government to its financial aid formulas.
