Now I'm hearing that, right now, half the middle and high school is out with the flu.
So my kid has the flu (confirmed by swab) and I'm very very glad we all had shots this year so it's just like a really shitty cold. I'm also grateful she started tamiflu a few hours ago.

On a call with Kaiser with my kid. Doc asks if they can use a perfectly harmless thing to help take notes.

No.

No you cannot.

At least they still ask.

So my favorite shawarma place changed their hot sauce so it's just salty and sour, not hot. Why would they do this?

I remember when it was Cake vs Free Beer in the best local band race back in the day. RIP.

I've been watching The Prior obsessively. It's about a heroic team of insurance doctors selflessly working to deny lifesaving care to hundreds of patients per day. It's streaming on Gas Station TV.

I don't know what changed but my previously unwatchable local NBC affiliate has become crystal clear for the Olympics. Not complaining. Well, the NBC commentators still won't ever shut up, but otherwise it's good.

They're showing Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, which I didn't know existed post-1980s, after the Olympics. Here's a fun fact about Marlin Perkins.

My tastes are, shall we say, unconventional. I'm trying to start up a convention for them next year, I'll let you know if I get a venue lined up.

Just quit your job, AUSA. I only read the first 5 words. So what is this about?
This is unreal. An AUSA talking like that in open court is about as close as you can come to a total breakdown. Never heard of anything like it.

does anyone remember a PBS show about the book The Outsiders, from like 1980 (before the movie), where they describe the book and it's acted out?
