I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

My heart. A dose of joy.

This one used to be my most favourite heart-clutchingly romantic xkcd post.

The anger unexpressed by millions and millions of women?

Problematic rage gap.
Missing a rabbi for the holidays?

Problematic sage gap.

It brings me joy to see the casual use of #Stoicism in Gregoire 's interview with @arlenedickinson.bsky.social

How pervasive Stoicism is in today's culture, without any nods to it, tells me how successful it is as a practical philosophy.

(Also, fuck that guy.)

Also, I know what she said isn't classical Stoicism. Some might call it simply watered-down pop-psychology.

But its roots go all the way back to the Big Three.

And it makes me happy.

My Friday has significantly improved.

I finally plucked out the annoying chin hair that has been pestering me for days!

I wish all of you the same sense of victory as you make your way through the day.

Uh oh... do I have to try to find any data available that measures:
(uptake of AI upgrades by existing users)/(money spent by on developing and adding AI to an existing product/service)?

I mean, beyond the anecdotal poll results that show 0/$gazillion (n=1)

The UCP has removed the right for teachers to bargain with #Bill2. With this, the UCP has indicated that they will do the same to any Alberta worker and, eventually, take action to remove more of Albertans' fundamental rights.

We chose to stand up — for students, for families, for teachers, for workers, for all of us. It didn’t have to be this way.
