NEW: North Atlantic right whales - a species whose fortunes I've followed for years - are having a baby boom!!
21 mother-calf pairs have been sighted so far, the highest figure in years. And we're not even halfway through the calving season (which runs to mid-April).

The Greenland shark seems to survive for centuries with a "diseased" heart. The marine predator has massive accumulations of ageing markers including scarring in its heart, but apparently suffers no ill effects.

This is an impeachable statement. It should be a career-ending scandal to avoid a question, especially one of grave import and consequence, by claiming ignorance about the most basic fundamental aspect of your job.
