A lot of people in power are demonstrating that they don’t actually believe in the premise of the Declaration of Independence or the republic as a concept. They believe that some people are created superior, and it is offensive and wrong for superiors to live bound by the needs of those below them.

And so far I’ve gotten off easy. I haven’t been disappeared to an ICE concentration camp. It’s the feeling of helplessness that comes along with not knowing how to help the people who have that tears away at all of us, even if we don’t stare at the news 24/7.
