Clean energy technology is quickly advancing to meet demands around the world...with a few very notable exceptions

"Solar ... is now so cheap that large markets for solar can emerge in a country in the space of a single year."

Another historic milestone for the energy transition, which is doing things seemingly daily that I was told quite often until quite recently were impossible www.bbc.com/news/article...

Developing countries lead the historic clean energy charge but the US and EU rely more on fossil fuels than before, a think tank study shows.

I kinda ran out of space. Was originally going to use it, but then I noticed the thing with the initials as I was typing and that felt like it has greater weight in the moment.

Never forget that the rise of the frog resistance was foretold by a great prophet, many years ago, in a more innocent time.

Today I've listened to 2 podcasts where the male co-host (whose name begins with A) has recommended/talked about Remains of the Day to his female co-host (whose name begins with E). Weird coincidence. @aptshadow.bsky.social @emmanewman.bsky.social @misterabk.bsky.social @eleanormorton.bsky.social

"Harlequin ladybirds are swarming UK houses this week - Like many insects, ladybirds enter a state of inactivity over winter known as diapause – an insect version of hibernation.
Different species like to overwinter in different environments - harlequins in our homes and seven-spots in leaf litter."
Why so many ladybirds are swarming UK houses
With social media reports of harlequin ladybirds invading UK homes this week, Elizabeth Rizzini explains why the weather means some ladybirds are on the move.

Privileged to be at the launch of this exhibition celebrating the city's anti racism pioneers - many familiar to our building's community over the decades. Particularly in the face of sickeningly regressive racism from Robert Jenrick & others this week, this is affirming & well worth coming to see.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

This could be a long and rambling thread. Be patient with me.

I bought an old mahogany bureau on Ebay. I didn't really want a bureau as we're meant to be downsizing, but it was a beautiful piece & obviously very old. Google lens suggests the brass chased handles are Queen Anne. That's 1702-1714 😯

So pleased to hear myself described as a genius by @emilytesh.net & @rebeccafraimow.bsky.social on the latest @eightdaysofdiana.bsky.social episode. ☺️😁 Really I just noticed the prominence of leaves in my 1st Fire & Hemlock reread, then took notice of numbers on the 2nd reread. Kid & I have been singing French children's songs over lunch, as he's being taught basically the same set I was. I did quite well considering I learned them c.30 years ago & almost never speak French. I mean when we were in Paris last year there was hardly cause to sing Sur la pont d'Avignon.

I don't know how he does it, but Kid manages to make running up the stairs sound like someone falling down them. Of course the pounding sounds from the landing quickly assure me that he got upstairs unharmed, tho walls or doorway often jump out at him.
