Nearly half of the UK’s garden space is paved over, a new study has found.

The RHS has conducted the largest ever audit of the UK’s gardens, and found that they are an untapped – and until now, mostly unmeasured – potential resource for nature.

Guinea pig died this morning/overnight, which wasn't expected. Rodents do tend to hide if they are ill. Now we don't have any pets and won't for a little bit. Sad morning but Kid and I are going to a gluten free party in a bit so that'll cheer us up.

I've been remembering my dreams more recently. They weren't necessarily pleasant, but I've been remembering a few, after years of barely doing so, which feels positive. I was very into dreams as a teen, had so many, liked to talk about them (I know). I'd wondered if I'd lost something, but maybe not

Audience culture is the worst it's ever been, I swear to god. People forgot how to act. I'm at the theater, trying to enjoy my show, which I've paid GOOD MONEY for, and these two old assholes are in the balcony heckling the life out of the poor bear onstage. Not letting him finish a single joke.

Ankh-Morpork prepares for war, which is no good if your job is keeping the peace. Vimes does what he knows, even when it takes him outside his city. We discuss the good influence this book has on us and how it is, regrettably, still very relevant right now.

Dining Table Discworld - Jingo
Suddenly Ankh-Morpork is keen to go to war, which is bad news for those trying to keep the peace. Vimes chases a suspect out of his element and learns something about big crimes and little crimes. Mea...

Happy World Walrus Day! The English word walrus probably comes from Dutch and means “whale horse.” The Albanian name for a walrus, lopë deti, means “sea cow.” And the Navajo word for a walrus is tábąąstííntsoh bideeʼ hólónígíí. It means “big otter that lies on the shore, with tusks”

I know there's a lot of talk about the internet being more rubbish than it used to be, and that is true. However I just found both an article and a report I read a few years ago almost right away, despite not remembering the exact titles. So that's made me feel a bit better about searching for stuff

I am currently, because I know how to enjoy a Saturday morning, writing some guidance for people on filling this consultation in. As I do several things are highly apparent. Before I go through them though I don't want this to put people off of filling it in. It is important to do so nonetheless. 1/
Government has today published its consultation into "earned settlement", the forward alone contains a hot mess of misrepresentation of the current system by the Home Secretary. I would strongly urge anyone affected by the current system to respond.

Reducing emissions without phasing out fossil fuels is like being full after a big restaurant meal and telling the waiter to keep delivering new dishes to the table with a promise that your kids and your neighbor who is not even at the table will pay the bill.

I feel like I am often nodding along when listening to people and wonder if it seems a bit demonstrative. But sounds like it helps people so I'll stop wondering and just keep on.
Be the person in the audience who smiles and nods.
here's one more- if you ever have to address a room full of people, pick a mf on one side of the room then pick a mf on the other side of the room and just talk to only those 2- it'll look like you're addressing everyone there and you won't have to worry about the audience
