I like how I was anticipating being melancholic over this game but I’m having a genuine blast with it. lmao
I do have my gripes but I will elaborate on that once I’m done with the game.

I intent on writing an extensive blog post over my feelings on Metroid Prime 4 once I beat it.
Neon Rain was born out of the hole the franchise did when it went on a hiatus all of those years ago. I wanted to be skillful enough first hence why I only started to work on it in 2021.

Prime 4 proves that Retro does indeed understand how this series has to look and feel, I couldn’t trust anyone else.
If I think too hard about the game, I can find disappointment.
But while I’m playing it goes away.
That’s was the best case scenario given the baggage and expectations.

Me and Retro Studios ended up making similar games somehow.
I opted for a Metroidvania with open world segments and dungeons instead of hallways and rooms.
The difference is that my sections are smaller and serve to house the dungeon and not much else.

Ive just passed the Volt Forge in Metroid Prime 4 and I’ll give my brief thoughts:
Prime 4 seems to be Metroid’s “Skyward Sword” in that the game doesn’t seem to trust me that much but has better moment to moment gameplay and puzzles than most of the series.
I love it btw, gorgeous game

When making End’s Reach, the two games I tried to smash together were Ocarina of Time and Metroid Prime.
Even though I leaned closer to Zelda I’m fascinated to see how Retro solved some of the same issues I ran into blending these otherwise very different games.

When making End’s Reach, the two games I tried to smash together were Ocarina of Time and Metroid Prime.
