After the arrests of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, I asked authoritarian experts about what we’re seeing. Their take: Authoritarianism is here and Trump is already going further than other strongmen: “Orbán doesn’t arrest journalists.”

‘This Is a New Dimension’
As federal agents begin arresting journalists, experts tell Status that Donald Trump's attacks on the press have crossed into openly authoritarian behavior.

Twice this week when meeting a new person I've gotten an excited "Wow, it must be an exciting time to be a political scientist!" and both times I've answered "Not really. That's like telling someone it's an exciting to be a surgeon when there's a 63 car pileup on the highway."

This is the kind of "immigration control" that Noem and Bovino want more of.

Renée Good and Alex Pretti did not die in vain. They gave their lives for the liberation of their fellow Americans—much like others who died in nonviolent campaigns in our history.

We will honor their sacrifices by continuing their fight until we win.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

I want these fuckers prosecuted. I will not vote for a candidate who shies away from this.
A teenage boy was walking home in Minneapolis yesterday when four masked men jumped out of a van & questioned him - with no parent or guardian present.

He was bundled into the van & taken away.

Bystanders heard the boy say: “Can I just go home?”

I don’t know how America comes back from all this.

Because of the woke left, people have been afraid to say anything other than "Happy Holidays" during this time of year. But now, thanks to the efforts of Trump, Vance, and the GOP, folks are once again comfortable with the more traditional, "Sieg Heil."

So, fine, you don't care what the definition of "fascism" is. But please, think through how differently your strategies would be if America were a fascist state right now.

It's not.

You have all the powers of a democracy. Use them. Don't buy into the "fascism is now" drama.
