People are always surprised to learn how little creators actually own in comics, games, etc. Big corporate brands are usually built on a work-for-hire model, meaning creators get paid once and then the *company* owns their ideas forever. This is why independent/creator-owned work is so important.

In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.

Reminder: This vast consolidation of wealth and power at the top has not been due to neutral market forces.

There’s no such thing as a “free market.”

It is designed.

It either advances public purposes or it serves the monied interests.

It may sound radical, but if one guy has so much wealth and power that he can use the large newspaper he owns to publicly threaten to ruin a service we all rely on, presumably as a bargaining tactic to get lower rates, we probably need to tax that guy until he can't do that anymore.

a cool thing about our culture is we take people clearly having some sort of mental health crisis but then give them money to crash out publicly and then we make reaction content to their mental unraveling all while we get to be like "omg this is so crazy!" and then people make money off it.

Logical end point of GWOT: fishermen are terrorists and drugs are WMDs (still zero proof of either one of those things, by the way). They're going to continue acting with impunity and post hoc the whole thing with slimy smiling assholes like Gutfeld. Idk who this rhetoric works on but it's chilling.
