i've long since abandoned the idea that nba all-star weekend is for people in my demo. but the nba has seemingly decided that "catering to the kids" and "actual basketball" are mutually exclusive concepts, which doesn't seem logical.

so you're argument, then, is that the jazz and nets are incapable of winning more games? i don't think this incentivizes short-circuiting distant picks any more than teams would now. has more of an impact on player availability/on-court quality post-deadline.
