It took me several months after he died to be brave enough to look at it as I had no idea what to expect. Once I finally did, it hit me that I was essentially holding his heart in my hands and I was so overcome. I did finally let it go as it felt weird to keep it anymore and I move a lot. 4/5

…it was the soundtrack of that period. Foster the People. Queen. Simple Minds. I heard “Coming of Age” by Foster the People a few minutes ago and for some reason it made me wonder where his pacemaker was now. I had held onto it for a few years unsure what I was supposed to do with it. 3/5

He had been sick since Pearl Harbor Day and it quickly became clear. I love Christmas music. Almost more than life itself. But that year there was no Christmas. No Christmas music. He died on Christmas Day. When my brother and I were driving around trying to handle his last rites etc… 2/5

I have a handful of songs that make me think of the very specific point in my life when my father died because they were on the mixed CD I had just made several days before. I was listening to it a lot at that point even though it was right before Christmas because I knew he was dying. 1/5

My company is smallish (under 100) and our open enrollment is in Sept because our insurance year starts in October. Somehow, I have no idea how, I’m paying less this year for the same coverage. I can only assume they’re eating it but I have no idea how
