Law professor at Temple. Professional angry feminist (she/her). Views are mine, my own, my precious.
Very cool and normal day when a professor friend I texted to check in on after reports of a shooting at the start of last semester texts to check on me after reports of a shooting at the start of this semester.

I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
The US Department of Agriculture suspends all federal funding to Minnesota, effective immediately.

Enjoyed seeing this wholesome guy just noping all of Fox's leading questions. It was like

Q:Don't you thinks she was wrong?

A: No obviously ICE was wrong

Q: What about the people who shouldn't be here?

A: Obviously they should be here

Q: Anything el--

A: I have a bell!

PSA for those at AALS, the street address for the Hilton Riverside in Doordash is wrong. It will direct your driver to the Hilton embassy suites. Let me and last night's room temperature fried okra be a warning.

I saw exactly this - you people caused the SCOTUS legitimacy crisis by arguing a critical perspective - on Facebook from another professor and had to resist becoming a Crazy Person On Facebook.
This faction tends to be anti-anti-SCOTUS too: They might not defend the Supreme Court's bad decisions on the merits, but they'll nitpick progressive professors who criticize those decisions. The real threat to the court's legitimacy, they imply, comes from these critics—not the justices themselves.

Reaaaally thinking about how this era is going to be described in the history books.
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Per WASH POST, Stephen Miller will play an “elevated role” in Venezuela (what could go wrong!) and Machado won’t be president because she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize Trump wants (yes, seriously)

Couldn’t make it up if we tried

The recent trans rights cases--Skrmetti on health care, the shadow docket passport order, and the pending athletics cases--should be seen in this context, as vehicles for chipping away at the promise of equal protection
The right, along the Roberts Court, is trying to nullify the Reconstruction amendments guaranteeing equality under the law, in order to restore the Antebellum Constitution, which envisions “liberty” as an eternal aristocracy of race and class (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

If any journalist wants to talk to a trans man with a PhD in Human Genomics who was trained in labs that studied the evolution of sex, I'm right here

Or just keep platforming Republicans who have a 5th grade understanding of biology so they get more trans people killed, sure 🤷🏻‍♂️

The House passed a bill banning gender affirming care nationwide tonight. Call your Senators.
Don't say "it will die in the senate"

Say "I will kill it in the senate"

And then call them. It takes so few calls, comparatively, to make it feel like a wave crashing over them. We need to be the wave, again and again.
