I feel more devastated by this death than the first one. He was a half balding bearded Millennial who loved biking and hiking. How many versions of him have I met at house parties, breweries, at the lake, etc? He was an ICU nurse for the VA. How many lives had he touched?

What we are doing isn't even activism (as most Americans understand that word). It's equivalent to shoveling a neighbor's walk or donating to a GoFundMe or visiting a coworker in the hospital—it's the basic act of being a good neighbor, and in this case it's protecting neighbors from armed forces.
