Not to mention big popular twitch streamers who say shit like “video games are so boring now” but who don’t play anything except COD and Madden. I have to think seeing that be a popular take has to be incredibly frustrating as any dev trying to make new and interesting things
I haven’t played replicant yet but the original version is genuinely one of my favorites. It didn’t have particularly great gameplay, but the story is so interesting

Honestly just “acts of violence per capita” would probably be more useful, because then you could determine if a country is inherently more violent or if it’s the same amount of violent of everywhere else but with access to deadlier weaponry
I saw it in theaters having never seen the prior movies and didn’t have trouble following along at all, even after watching the other movies and learning the “lore,” it’s really just not a world where that matters. The Mad Max movies are more like parables than a cohesive story anyway
When you think about it, Fascism kind of is just Monarchy but just the very beginning of it, before you’ve been in power long enough to try to make some “Divine Right of Kings” argument
