"Why am I addicted to this shit?" I say, as I keep scrolling.
I'm not asking or expecting much this Christmas, but if anyone has an extra Commodore 64C they want to get rid off, please think of me 😅

I just need the base unit. I can even pay for shipping!

I've been making a conscious effort to ask myself, whenever I'm about to comment on something, "is my comment actually going to lead to a positive outcome?"

And then I hit "cancel", go on about my life, and forget about it, so I don't get into a needless argument and get pissed for nothing.
so, if you're mad on the internet:

1) is this really worth being angry about?
2) if i was unaware of this opinion, would it have impacted my life in any way?
3) do I like feeling how I feel right now?
4) am i in 'bitch eating crackers' mode?
5) what result will my involvement have?

Hogwarts Legacy is free on Epic, eh? I'm not interested personally, but you know what other wizard game I'm interested in? @ducky-dev.bsky.social 's Secret Agent Wizard Boy And The International Crime Syndicate, available on Steam in early access!

Way better than anything JK could come up with. 💯

I'm starting to wonder if having an account specifically for my business, and another for personal purposes, is actually worth it. Considering I'm not even having fun doomscrolling, perhaps I should just have a business account.

Any other devs here having the same thoughts?

I could never quite figure out how to make my airplane game interesting or unique, so instead of letting it rot on my hdd, I'm making it into a package for the Unity asset store. It did teach me a lot, at least!

Finished the sandbox scene today, tomorrow I'll start putting the code together. 🛩️

Considering what Steam's moderation is like now, my personal strategy will be to make my politically charged games just subtle enough so people with two brain cells to rub together will get it, but not those assholes, so by the time they figure it out, review bombing the game won't matter anymore.
We had an Overwhelmingly Positive score on Steam, then these two reviews rolled in

Why does Valve allow this?

Dear Artists,

This is a reminder to STOP CALLING YOURSELF A CONTENT CREATOR.

This is corporate lingo meant to devalue art and categorize it as solely a product to be consumed.

YOU ARE VISUAL ARTISTS, FILM MAKERS, SINGERS, ACTORS, etc...

It would be awesome if someone won a prize, went to accept it, and their speech is just "y'all are fucking stupid but thanks for the trophy I guess." and then they just leave without saying another word.

Hell, I'd do that.
On Games for Impact:

“It's good that it's there, but it's also, in a way, kind of insulting. Because giving a special award for a game for actually meaning something or having some human content... we should be aspiring for that in every category."

I made a custom Firefox icon you can actually use as the app icon now! Also I did a little interview with the folks over at @mozilla.org about it, check it out :)

I swear, meditation is impossible when you have ADHD. I have three songs playing in my head at the same time, at all times, 24/7, and there's no mute button to be found.

My brain is trying to kill me smh

I was curious about something. Does anybody have information about what was the first popular game console to officially support a C compiler (or any high level language), instead of exclusively relying on assembly to code the games?

I think even the SNES was assembly only, but I might be wrong.

I still can't believe my DSi is still working perfectly and that the battery is still holding charge, to be honest.

I feel we're very much at a point where new tech can't get meaningfully better, so enshittification is the only way to keep the line going up, making older tech functionally better.
Cheap, minimally online if at all, doesn't spy on you, doesn't have subscriptions or micro transactions, won't be enshittified, you own it, reminds them of simpler times or childhood, modern pop culture is adversarial and alienating
Why do Gen Z have a growing appetite for retro tech?

I started playing Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare lately, because everyone seems crazy about it and I was wondering what I missed.

...So it's basically Team America: World Police but minus the puppets and humor, isn't it?

I love how he shows examples of both pixel art that works better on a CRT and pixel art that looks worse on one. Goes to show that intent, and the relationship between the art and the hardware, is more important than the medium itself, in the end.

"Visibility limited" is what gets me lol. They know what they're doing.
I'm begging any artists still using Twitter claiming it's integral to their work to just leave. It's been revealed the site works off a made up "credit score" from hell and punishes you for posting like a normal human being.

Abandon Twitter for good. It's time. It's been time.
