The most exciting NYCC adjacent news I've seen so far is Cheeky Comics signing Yishan Li for 24 issues of Private Dance. An NSFW comic from a small pub being given a lengthy run with a uniform creative team is really impressive right now. That's the sort of thing I want to hear about more in comics.
