Had been carrying a sermon illustration in search of the right sermon for a couple of years now and finally got to use it today. That’s a good feeling as a preacher when one of those lands well.

So, did Brennan Lee Mulligan time travel to the future or did Jason Isbell time travel into the past? And who has been sent to kill whom?

Minneapolis has seen a stunning 1,646% spike in calls from families who can't pay rent because they're afraid to leave their homes to work.

This is state violence manufacturing housing precarity in real time.

People should not be facing eviction when their city is under occupation.

Children don’t see “love your neighbor as yourself“ as politics but as an obvious good.
The hardest thing about growing up is learning there is an opposing side to this. Fred Rogers prepared children for the moments that growth is needed. (and rejected entertainment as framing purpose of his show)

“Just as you did not do to the least of these, you did not do it to me.”
I’ve been writing Popular Information for 8 years, and this is one of the most important stories I’ve ever published. This is a humanitarian crisis that has gone unreported.
ICE has stopped paying for detainee medical treatment
ICE halted payments in October, and the situation will persist for at least several more months

I don’t want to make a citizen arrest. I want to issue citizens tickets to people whose stupid big trucks obstruct traffic because they’re parked in spaces where they don’t fit.

Another entry for the files chronicling the greatest political unity of my lifetime being always for war.
The House voted 341 to 79 to fund Trump's war-mongering foreign policy agenda.

Only 57 Democrats voted NO.

One of my the insights of my earliest theological study was that a common reading of Rom 13—submit to the authorities when legitimate and then don’t when they cross the line to being evil authorities—was unsustainable because, well, what’s the line and how would you know when it’s been crossed?

Self evident and inalienable is the right to life, as Jefferson wrote, with federal officers precisely in view.

O God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of these lions. Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime, as David wrote, with federal officers precisely in view.
Rep. Wesley Hunt: "The bottom line is this: when a federal officer gives you instructions, you abide by them and then you get to keep you life"
