I'm suddenly in support of facial recognition, but only for the folks behind this lawsuit. When the subway gets built, if these dudes try to board, the train shuts down and emits a loud booing noise www.thejournal.ie/metrolink-ju...

The design team met with local residents more than 20 times. Compensation equivalent to an average annual salary in Dublin is being discussed. And still this handful of people are blocking the single most important piece of infrastructure in the country www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2025...

Was ist da los?

I'm at breakfast before more sessions at #aarsbl in Boston and eavesdropping on that most American conversation: a bunch of dudes trading stories about nightmarish car accidents they have survived

It's occurred to me that Irish English has a clatter of words for referring to a rake of things. There's a whole skite of them, and you can use a lock of different terms and people will know what you mean

the actual suicide of the West will be combining a rapidly aging population with hostility to migrants. however we must give credit to East Asia, especially Japan, for pioneering this model.

Who remembers MOOCs?
In about three years the entire university pivot to AI curricula and schools and programs is going to be so deeply embarrassing. We will all pretend it never happened and I will be standing there, looking at people with a mirror in my eyes. This is all so embarrassing.

the man is preaching the truth:
The RSA targeting the low hanging fruit on an entirely different tree. Our society has abandoned so much to the combustion engine.

No amount of high vis will make someone visible to people who aren't looking. 😞

As we hurtle towards the 160th person to die on our roads this year, I have just read that the Road Safety Authority proudly declares it has distributed 204,000 high vis items - jackets, vests, bib, armbands, rucksack covers, and drawstring bags. That speeding SUV can't harm me if I'm wearing a bib!

There is *extensive* Papal teaching on cinema over the last century and this is a brilliant addition. The new word here is "algorithms". I predict that when Leo's teaching on AI drops next year, it will be more significant than any religious teaching since Laudato Si'
