ACIP Decides More Newborns Do Need To Catch Hepatitis B
The fucking maniacs did it. We talked yesterday about how newborn vaccinations for hepatitis B were on the agenda for this latest meeting at ACIP, the CDC's immunization advisory panel. You likely know all this already, but RFK Jr. fired all ACIP panel members earlier this year, replacing them with hand-picked anti-vaxxer quack-jobs who are aligned with Kennedy's anti-medicine, anti-science stances on vaccines.

And other biases exist! I have heard of Sausalito PD trying to talk riders out of filing a police report because there was only damage to the bike and no injury.

Of course, some people, for a variety of reasons, will be unwilling to file a police report, perhaps to due to documentation status.

Cupertino spent the last billion years fighting the Vallco replacement project. And now because of interest rates, tariffs, and all the other macro stuff the affordable housing part doesn’t pencil out.

This is going to be great NIMBY copypasta material forever

Jfc this job posting for an in-home teacher.

Candidate must have a STEM Masters or phD, must have a plan for the kid to score 99th percentile on the SAT.

But not allowed to teach the kid about… homelessness

Politics aside, LA28's silence is so perplexing from a strategic perspective. The refusal to guarantee the safety of LA's immigrant community could end up seriously impacting the organizing committee's ability to deliver the games.

Even the Dodgers eventually said something. What is going on?
During the past six months, virtually every civic organization in Southern California has put out a statement denouncing ICE activity. Yet LA28, the private nonprofit that serves as LA's Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee, and aspires to be a civic organization, has said nothing
Why won't LA28 support LA's immigrants?
"An Olympics and Paralympics security plan that gives control to a federal administration that is already attacking immigrants in our city and across the nation puts our entire community at risk"

Unintended consequences: we might actually build housing adjacent to transit and increase metro ridership
More on SB79 (CA housing-near-transit bill). Horvath sounds supportive. Najarian says it has unwanted unintended consequences - concerned that Metro wasn't working on this - wasn't warning him (& board) - says it should have been a 3-alarm-fire. Says it was a fait accompli when he heard about it.

CEOs, legacy media reporters, Supreme Court justices: All Hail President Pedophile, our rightful sovereign, embodiment of the volk

Normal people: Nazis Fuck Off
In South Minneapolis, Minnesota, nearly two dozen neighbors confronted and surrounded ICE goons after rapid-response alerts were issued. The goons were questioning an East African man when the situation escalated, and they eventually left the area without making any arrests.

this is an absurd, staggering amount of money to lose and the thing is that it basically didn’t matter at all because Meta prints money

the AI bubble is not going to completely destroy tech because many of the people funding it are sitting on gigantic money spigots and can go “oops”
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.

Birthright citizenship is good policy - the arguments that it’s not all seem either race stuff or the unfairness that other people have to wait.

We can fix that by admitting more naturalized citizens.

anyways. the struggle between maga and freedom is not new, but a struggle that goes back to the founding of the republic--a slow-rolling religious civil war, two sides of a schism on what the meaning of america ever was

now it is simply our turn to take up that fight

what follows immediately after the birthright clause? the privileges and immunities and due process clauses? and what follows them? the equal protection clause. all of this is explicitly to say, "the declaration is the constitutional law of the land"

the birthright clause was not just written to wipe dred scott off of the books, it was written to repudiate the *idea* behind dred scott, you might say the larger *ideological project* of dred scott. and the whole of section 1 of the 14th amendment is a constitutional statement of political equality
