The government has time to defend an ICE shooting on TV, but not to answer the Good family’s letters to preserve evidence in Renee’s killing. No outreach, no accountability, and reported talk of investigating her grieving wife instead. That’s how authoritarian systems treat state violence.
Lawyer for Renee Good's family: There has been no outreach at all from the United States government to the Renee Good family. We have asked for the government to preserve all the evidence in this case. They are not responding to us.

In an interview with Christiane Amanpour, historian Robert Kagan says all major US institutions have buckled before Trump. Only the people are resisting, he says, citing the scenes from the streets of Minneapolis which utterly infuriate Trump and his cronies, driving them to lethal violence.
‘The United States is now a hostile and potentially predatory nation’, says conservative historian | CNN
In a new column in The Atlantic, Robert Kagan writes that Donald Trump “managed in one year to destroy the American order that was.”

It’s NO WONDER everyone in the Twin Cities is SKEPTICAL of the “end of Operation Metro Surge”.
They don’t appear to be going away anytime soon.

The ICE killings in Minneapolis evoke Selma but the day-to-day tactics in Minneapolis remind me of the Birmingham Bus Boycott: a grinding, continuous, citywide and logistically demanding effort of non-cooperation over months to break an unjust status quo.
A manager for the Immigrant Defense Network told MPR News that back in November, 2,500 people were trained as constitutional observers. Now, the total is nearly 30,000 trained observers in 77 of Minnesota's 87 counties.

ICE may have lost the battle for public opinion, and its operation may be hampered by local pushback, but it has succeeded in one respect: It has instilled terror in Minnesota’s immigrant communities, forcing them into the shadows.

Either Stephen Miller was lying then or the head of CBP is lying now about the Trump regime's account of Alex Pretti's murder.
This is important. The head of CBP says here that his agency did NOT provide the assessment that led DHS to label Alex Pretti a terrorist looking to inflict mass casualties.

That appears to contradict Stephen Miller's claim that the initial assessment was based on CBP reports:

Homan did NOT SAY they were all leaving. He said:

1) Observers are lawbreakers, so

2) A team will be staying to watch them and keep arresting immigrants

3) Minneapolis is no longer a “sanctuary city for criminals” and

4) Operation Metro Surge is over

So we now have permanent secret police.
