I had a professor tell me that there was a gender divide in terms of liking syntax. There's probably social stuff going on there to cause it. It felt bad because I struggle with syntax and didn't need dysphoria ANS syntax-based self esteem issues. But I do wonder if HRT would make me a syntactician

Awesome, so if universities “proactively” agree to sell out their students, staff, faculty, and academic freedom, the administration will let them keep money that has already been appropriated. And shame specifically on UT for the proactive boot-licking.

Mentoring people is one of the things that I get to do that sincerely just makes me so happy. It fills my proverbial cup and giving that up is the thing that bothers me most when I think about how I might not be able to find an academic job.
