I always wondered, when I read Suetonius, how everyone could put up with Caligula for so long.

I think I understand better now. The institutional and social inertia is so strong, especially among elites with “something to lose”. No one wants to stick their heads up first, so they go into denial.

In Gaza, everyone instantly understood Israel’s retaliation would be one thousand times more violent, destructive and murderous than the initial very violent attack. So it was time to hit those leftist traitors with a crushing attack, everything in the arsenal at unprecedented intensity.

Seems like this post is bound to show up as an exhibit in one of the cases challenging ICE/Border Control enforcement actions.

That it's not going to happen, because Juan Linz was right & also we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, with a totally nonfunctional Congress led by oath-violating authoritarian lackeys, doesn't change the fact that we are here now.

We don't need to play games parsing US law or international treaties to figure out if it's legal for Trump to do this. It's not. It's crystal clear it's all illegal. Everyone's just pretending we're not at the point where the thing to do is to remove him. It's an advanced state of political denial.
Again, I’m going to keep banging the drum that the fact we are threatening the territorial sovereignty of our closest allies is not only a gross violation of our UN & NATO treaty obligations & poses a massive threat to national security & world order but also should immediately end this presidency.

Again, even if they do, Congress doesn't need to accept their bullish*t & should rewrite IEEPA. And again, even if they do, WTO rules don't allow it, & even if you argue they do under Art. XXI (www.wto.org/english/res_...), it violates NATO treaty obligations & requires immediate impeachment/removal
Also wondering where Trump derives the legal authority to impose tariffs on US allies because one of them is not willing to let the US steal its territory? Supreme Court is about to rule on tariffs. Will they sanction the use of tariffs as tools of territorial aggression?
Apparently the “survival of our planet” rests on whether Trump can annex a frostbitten island with 57,000 inhabitants that has been part of Denmark for hundreds of years.

His politeness is IRRELEVANT to the fact that driving out to question a US citizen over a post that couldn’t possibly be construed as threatening takes a wrecking ball to the First Amendment.

Your blissful acceptance of this activity is in fact the actual problem with much of America.
Dude was polite not trying to be intimidating, answered Qi’s with “I am supposed to ask that Question”. when someone is nice, professional and helpful as he was at the end you look like a giant asshole posting as if this guy was somehow bad. U are part of the problem fo shizzle.

We must unconstitutionally impose more taxes on Americans because the threat of illegal aggression against a heretofore American ally hasn't worked out as smoothly as we imagined.
Trump says he'll impose a 10% tariff (rising to 25% in June) on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, because they've sent people to Greenland, until the US can buy Greenland.

Especially people who think trans people are scary. They turn out to be very bad at threat assessment.
I can't trust politicians who are anti-trans. Not because I'm "only searching for perfection" which is what centrists will be accusing me of for the rest of my life, it's because if you're not pro-trans you'll be garbage on lots of other issues too. Being anti-trans NEVER exists in a vacuum.
