The challenge is enormous, and it's also a moral one: to unite without vengeance, but without impunity. Targeted justice for those most responsible, truth for the victims, guarantees that the rest will dismantle the system, and a plan for people to live again—not just survive. Because freedom doesn't come with a new president: it comes when the state ceases to be a threat.

HESTER ANGUISH, a Scholomancer, currently stuck serving as acting Sheriff for the Treeliner town of Bailiehollow. A prominent NPC for a new home game with my fiance, running a playtest for a game system I’ve been working on for the last few years.
A bust of HESTER ANGUISH, portraying her from the shoulders-up. Her most prominent feature is her metal mask, which covers her head from the back of her skull all the way down to the underside of her chin. The features of the mask are simplistic and indistinct, with a rough approximation of the brow, cheekbones, and jawline. The apertures for Hester’s eyes and mouth are blocky and rectangular. Overall, with her chin lowered and face half-turned to the viewer, it gives her a very ominous appearance. Although there are a few scratches, the helmet has obviously been well taken care of. A hinge and seam near the temple implies that a clasp at the back keeps the helmet in place. Her eyes, visible through the eyeholes in the mask, are a bright, fiery amber. Her straw-blonde hair, which is not nearly as well-kept as the helmet, is pulled into a messy ponytail. The skin visible beneath the mask – mostly, her right ear and neck – is quite pale; her ear and the front of her throat show that at some point in the past she was badly burned. The scars are old, but extensive. She is wearing her Fog Crawler, a large Scholomancer’s overcoat made by enchanting an antique longcoat which originally came from the World-That-Was. The dark olive coat looks like military surplus and here is buttoned all the way up, showing refurbished gold buttons, red trim, and a red interior collar. A full-body image of Hester. In this image, she wears a salamander-orange pinafore over a cream-colored long-sleeve shirt. The shirt has two large, bright green buttons on a soft, light-colored leather collar, and smaller green buttons at the sleeve. She wears dark leather work gloves which have become slightly sun-bleached on top with age and wear. Her belt matches her gloves; it is quite sturdy-looking, has multiple large pouches, an empty glass vial, and has a design that looks custom-made for the uses of a Scholomancer such as Hester. Her knee-high riding boots are also well-used, though the top of them are not visible beneath the hem of her pinafore. Her posture is relaxed, though a hand hovers by her belt, as if she is ready to grab something off of it. From this angle, her mask gives her a slightly less menacing expression, though it’s hard to tell if the expression under the mask is any different. Hester’s two weapons of choice – it is unusual for a Scholomancer to carry one firearm, let alone two, but they are carefully maintained. The gun on top is a sawn-off break-action shotgun with a single barrel; it is plated in a pale metal, like nickel, and has obviously seen a lot of use – the metal is covered in wear marks and scratches. The handle and fore grip, modified with anchors for a shoulder strap, are made from a wood similar to walnut, with a distinct grain and a warmish-brown tone. The handle looks to be made from a burl, and has much more distinctive and complex patterning. It also has a device attached to the left side which is modeled on the Alofs Repeating Shotgun System (basically, an external bolt-on tube magazine which automatically reloads the shotgun whenever the gun is opened to reload. It’s super cool, look it up!). The lever that breaks open the shotgun has a stylized ‘G’ on it. The second gun is Hester’s trusty Fizroy Raider, modeled after a World War I-era Webley top-break revolver. It’s a newer gun with much less wear on it. It is plated in a dark metal, and the grip is made of Hemacite – a special Bakelite-esque plastic substance made using Monster Blood, and so having a distinctive deep red, cloudy coloration. There is a lanyard ring affixed to the bottom of the handle. A closer view of the details of Hester’s upper body. Because she is facing the other way from the bust, we can see that the scarring on her throat wraps all the way around the front of her neck, but on this side it goes up to her jaw – her left ear is un-burned, and she wears a small earring.

ANOTHER EARTH, File 002 – THE JOKER Three busts of The Joker from an alternate DC universe fan project. His clothing is inspired by the Cesar Romero iteration, with a vibrant violet jacket and a deep green shirt and tie which feature a subtle paisley print. His features are exaggerated in a way which seems reminiscent of the DCAU Joker, with some Jack Nicholson thrown in for good measure, but his shoulders are broad and thuggish. He has a golden tooth, a green tongue, and his eyes look sickly and pink. The tone of his skin is also off-white with a slight green tint, implying that his blood may be green.
