A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

I appreciate you, Keith! I was not coming for that guy - but he came for me - & what a weak-ass thing to say. Oops, the courts said nothing. That never happens with abuse victims so of course he didn't do anything - not withstanding all the women who spoke up & what we've seen with our own eyes!

It's the faked citations and quotes. I don't even have to say "you used AI" - just these are made up citations and quotes and so I can't give you credit. OR "be careful here, this doesn't fit the assignment and a reader might think you used a bot!"

One of the under-observed parts of the last several years is the switch where wealthy donors claims directive authority over university policy. So they think Trump’s efforts of undermine academic freedom promote their own control. It’s a symptom of oligarchy, and how oligarchy gives way to Tyranny.

The Times' coverage of Rowan's role has been remarkable. It is sad to me that after forcing his alma mater, Penn, to oust a really good president for incredibly poor reasons, Rowan's megalomanical next thought was "maybe the federal government should do this everywhere" and they're actually trying.

“Academic freedom” is not supposed to mean “big donors direct research and teaching” but that’s exactly what systematic defunding of universities along with the college-is-a-corporation model has enabled.

Yes - I mean in the main. Just not the majority of us! I mean the voting statistics too, although of course people could have voted for Harris and not him - though some folks of that mindset switched over to him even if they had voted Democratic before.
