I am sorry if this goes against J-school indoctrination, but I also think journalists must get comfortable taking a side.This is important because one side of the government does not think journalism is a legitimate practice. If you want to keep practicing journalism, you have to pick a side.

i don't think this is even a real statistical anomaly anymore. it seems like there's someone in the crowd at every mass shooting who has been through it before. this doesn't have to be our shared cultural experience.
