Instead of endlessly writing about the dangers of wokeness (ie not being an asshole), the media could spend that time talking about the crisis of elite depravity and impunity, as exhibited in the Epstein files. The latter is an actual threat to our culture and society.

So true. What a beloved, singular, goofball genius 💔
Much too soon, Catherine O'Hara. Toronto aches for you, for your brilliant family, for your fellow SCTV geniuses, for everyone whose work and lives you made better and weirder across the decades. As your sister Mary Margaret sang, truly something to cry about.

While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.

Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.

I mean it’s true that there are “paid agitators” in Minneapolis. There are 3000 of them and they’ve assassinated two people.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

"Canada simply cannot have a groundbreaking new strategy to deal with a ruptured world order, and lay off the very people whose job it is to deliver that agenda. The alliances don’t build themselves. The rights don’t protect themselves." www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Mark Carney says we need a new global order. So why is he cutting Canada’s most vital tools to build one?
Cuts to the public service will weaken our capacity to build new alliances.

This moment in history provides us with incontrovertible evidence that all the conservatives who claim to be extremely devoted to freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, and opposed to the encroachment of tyranny, are completely and totally full of shit.

It's all white supremacy and greed.

So many factors involved in the decline since '08 of reported narrative nonfiction, but the rise of AI in a saner world would herald a revival, since reporting--the kind where you put your body in places with other people--is something AI can't do. Mediocre fiction? No problem. Reportage? It can't.

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

One of the things I hope will be remembered re “gender critical” politics is that they were mostly good at forcing exclusion and basically nothing else. No serious investment into women’s charities or institutes, no desire to really partake in VAWG nor any effort to improve public toilets
