historically, people have answered this with "national economy bad, but i'm doing alright" or such. the fact they're now saying "ii'm going bad" is, uh, not great
"How would you rate..."

National Economy:
Poor/Fair: 65%
Excellent/Good: 29%

Personal Finances:
Poor/Fair: 66%
Excellent/Good: 29%

Local Economy:
Poor/Fair: 58%
Excellent/Good: 37%

60,000 is the *low end* estimate.
So, El Fasher looks like one of the worst single event atrocities to happen this century so far, but the evidence has come in such a trickle it seems to only now be getting verified
At least 60,000 murdered in Sudanese city, which resembles ‘a slaughterhouse’
Satellite evidence shows extent of paramilitary massacre in El Fasher

really gotta hand it to the rationalist community: they've given me a whole vocabulary of jargon where I now know, if I see it in the wild, I should entirely disregard the speaker

Cities of the Weft [Mordew/Malarkoi/Waterblack]?

underrated fantasy series about a society that killed capital-G God and gets power from (capital-H) His flesh

This is 150 pages through the first book, but also unique is the explicitly pro-spoiler attitude the book and author want readers to take
Looking at my search history:
- books as good as piranesi
- books like piranesi
- piranesi more how
- susanna Clark new book
Please someone help me

the sense of scale that Xenogears provides is really something.

last week i remembered that macOS lets you set your own icons and that *I* have the power to delegitimize the professionalism of the software that runs on my machine, so here's a thread of the 16 new icons i've made so far

i really forgot how fun it was to just sit down and make art for myself :')

yes you can use Linux without touching the command line at all.

Almost all package managers implement PackageKit, and thus graphical frontends like Gnome Software and Discover can take over and control the whole search, download and update process for you.

Download Fedora KDE to see this
I wish Linux was user friendly enough to get me to switch. I don't have the energy to deal with the typical Linux experience these days.

I'm very computer literate but until you can use Linux without having to touch terminal/command prompt, it is not user friendly, sorry.

liberals: attaining proconsular authority over a province before having served a term as consul or even just praetor is unheard of. has she even held a position as quaester or aedile? no?? the gods will surely be displeased by this

This is a nuts story. An AI chatbot and image platform left millions of images exposed. They show what people are actually using the AI for: taking random women's yearbook, graduation, and social media photos and making super realistic hardcore porn with them

DC vs Heller and Dobbs are also quite bad
have longstanding take that if i taught con law, i’d basically teach marbury v madison and bush v gore and hardly anything else.

now i’d probably add Trump v Hawaii and maybe Loper-Bright? tougher to pick from the last ten years.
i don't think that bush v. gore is the *worst* ruling in the history of the supreme court, but i do think it is the most openly *corrupt* ruling in its history. a real disgrace.

I like Xenogears’ aesthetic style of 3D background models with sprites more than the HD-2D aesthetic of pixel textures on 3D models, I think the sense of scale and cutscene direction is better here.

If Square Enix ever makes a remake they should keep this style or go full 3D.
