Well, this is fun: Cards Against Humanity have released a new version where every joke on every card is explained, turning the game into an "Informational product" so it's 100% exempt from Trump's tarriffs: www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...

All profits go to the American Library Association. 💥📚
Cards Against Humanity avoids tariffs with an edition that explains all the jokes, says 'this holiday season… don’t give Donald Trump a f***ing cent'
For US customers only.

Reminder that while bookshop.org is amazing and you should be directing your online book sales there, I'll echo others and say that for small publishers, one of the most impactful things you can do is buy directly from our website, putting money in our bank account today for operations.

the interesting thing is that his copy came with a letter from the publisher that basically reads "Hi, this is a complimentary book we published for ABA 1986 while we look for a US publisher or distributor" which in one stroke clears up how and why this thing ever saw print.

Fantagraphics is having a sale because a major distributor declared bankruptcy and stole their books. If you press like on this post I will recommend you a book or artist I think you'll like based on my impression of your vibe. Reserving the right to recommend the same stuff multiple times
The Fantagraphics “We’ve Been Robbed” Sale - Fantagraphics Blog
A call to action! Fantagraphics is in a legal battle (as part of a coalition of a dozen other publishers) that is stressing our ability to publish the world’s greatest cartoonists, as we have done for...

If you are traveling overseas for a book fair or zine fest, figure out a plan for everything you don't sell. Trade with other publishers, pre-arrange for a store or distributor to take them, or give things to people you like. It's essential to keep things in other countries given the high shipping.

Raided my @bookshop.org wishlist:

—EDINBURGH and THE QUEEN OF THE NIGHT by @alexanderchee.bsky.social b/c it's absurd I don't already own them.

—THE RIDDLE OF THE ROSETTA, coauthored by @dianejosefowicz.bsky.social — great background for a story I'm cooking up.

—The Pinckney memoir as a treat.
The cover of the novel EDINBURGH, by Alexander Chee. The cover of the novel THE QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, by Alexander Chee. The cover of THE RIDDLE OF THE ROSETTA: How an English Polymath and a French Polyglot Discovered the Meaning of Egyptian Hieroglyphs, by Jed Z. Buchwald and Diane Greco Josefowicz. The cover of COME BACK IN SEPTEMBER: A Literary Education on West Sixty-seventh Street, Manhattan, by Darryl Pinckney.

“Never before have we issued a joint public warning like this. But the profound, immediate and unprecedented threat that Kennedy’s policies and positions pose to the nation’s health cannot be ignored.”
Opinion | Six surgeons general: It’s our duty to warn the nation about RFK Jr.
We took an oath to declare dangers when we found them. We’re doing that again today.

For the good of the country, Republican leaders need to start engaging in basic bipartisanship to end the Republican-created health care cost crisis and the widespread misery of this Trump shutdown.

We really need to retire "contrarian" as a descriptor for Weiss immediately.

The reason she is getting this job right now is because of her *non-contrarian* sensibilities.

She espouses views that the US's current power structure likes.

I have been trying to explain a microfiche machine to one of my dear, brilliant, talented, but clearly too young to be alive collaborators. And it is taking the last of my soul.

“Micro…fish?? I have never heard that word in my life.” I recorded the timestamp so it can be put on my tombstone.
