Kimono Propaganda Kimono with Military Designs

In the first half of the twentieth century, a time when Japan was avidly modernizing and building up its global political strength, some kimonos, obi, and other articles of traditional clothing were decorated with motifs that reflected these changes.
Known as omoshirogara, meaning "amusing designs," these designs included scenes of modern cities, steam trains, and cars, but also, increasingly, military imagery. Many of these designs were on the lining of the garment or on clothing worn at home or at private gatherings, but as Japan expanded its military and political actions overseas, these "propaganda kimonos" became canvases for visual expressions of nationalism. In this colorful example, made during World War II, motifs, including Rising Sun battle flags, Mitsubishi 1MF 1923 biplanes, and the Yamato Battleship-designed to battle US naval vessels— are depicted against a traditional background of alternating blocks of bright colors. The kimono would have been worn to celebrate Japan's advancing technology and global power and to support its victory and cultural supremacy.

Here’s an angle for a journalist looking for a fresh take on the White House “Antifa” roundtable — most of the people who participated are employed by or have a direct financial connection to Turning Point USA. I think that’s pretty telling, no?
