i've got my grandfather's uncle's surname, Krause, because my grandfather was raised by his uncle, so he changed it from Cohen

Even worse is Tigray. Darfur is at least familiar to Western human rights discourse, even if it's a much lower priority to the activists than Gaza (leftist version) or Ukraine (pro-NATO version). But Tigray, with a mid-6 figure death toll, is genuinely obscure.
