I see what you're trying to say — that because it's analyzing your input text and not generating a full new text it's not plagiarizing

But the plagiarization is fundamental to the process of it generating a response to any prompt, and summarization is not an inherently unique mode of operation

One issue with that is that the LLM can't exist without the huge input of training data. The only reason they can summarize your text is by scraping other peoples' first to make the model. And even if they got permission first, you're still using a lot of power to do a thing you should be able to do

BESS is great for shifting power a few hours (or maybe days) but this is talking about storing for months to cover seasonal shifts. We do have some tech to do that (pumped storage) but there are siting limitations, etc. which make it not an easy problem

Yeah I was lucky to be able to update my desktop BIOS but a) that's a tall ask for a lot of people and b) the motherboard corp had to actually put out the update for a 2018 PC

My 2013 laptop would run 11 fine but it's just screwed (gonna put Linux on it). E-waste generating event!

The tsunami warning referenced above is coming from the US tsunami warning center(s), they usually just put out a warning for whatever's in the way regardless of national boundaries

They're expressing the pseudoscientific belief that the earth physically flipped entirely or partially over multiple times, destroying an advanced ancient civilization each time. There is no evidence for this theory and it relies on misunderstanding or ignoring lots of actual science.

That's not correct, we don't have any evidence of massive tsunamis associated with past pole flips and current-day measurements of magn. pole wandering have little correlation with the movement or speed of the rotational pole. I'd love to fill you in on the actual geology if you're curious!

Oh sorry I thought we were taking about things that have credible evidence. A rotational pole flip, besides being physically impossible, would cause a mass extinction rivaling the Permian as well as abundant geologic evidence. As such the idea can be immediately dismissed.

There's a difference between being open to new ideas and fabricating stuff from whole cloth. Or knowingly spreading misinfo!

There's no credible evidence that a magnetic pole flip has or even could destroy civilization. Not to mention the most recent one was 780k yrs ago, before humans existed.

You can post cryptic poetry or you can go on Google scholar and read 15 peer-reviewed papers debunking the younger dryas impact hypothesis and how the yd was a normal part of the glacial cycle

People 10k yrs ago were just as smart as we are now, you don't need aliens to explain moving rocks around

Yeah the ice core data is clear none of the stuff you're talking about happened!

It is true that there have been earlier discoveries of tools and structures but nothing like a huge ancient civilization wiped out by solar storms or whatever.

Coyotes are awesome! I definitely recommend the book "Americans Hate Coyotes: How the War on America's Song Dog Began and Why it Persists" which talks about research-supported strategies for coexisting with them and why they're cool animals

Why do you say this? Satire can be hard for humans to parse and fictional docs are often intentionally written with identical verbiage and structure to non-fiction ones. You need context AI doesn't have. The site links idea is better but still doesn't prevent an April 1st spaghetti farm mistake

Once again I am reading about how the Tacoma ASARCO smelter plumed a huge area of the south sound with lead and arsenic and despite decades of soil cleanup there's no end in sight and settlement money is projected to run out well before cleanup is anywhere close to complete

One time when I was flagging we had both lanes shifted over on a bridge with cones to make room for work. Just follow the cones, EZPZ. Some guy drove up, stopped, changed into the oncoming lane, and started driving
