A re-enactment of English Longbowmen at the Battle of Agincourt, with the words "All I Want For Christmas Is Yew" at the bottom of the picture. You see, my dear alt-text readers, Yew wood was the preferred wood for longbows, prized for its strength and flexibility. So it would make sense that the bowmen might want yew for Christmas. This is a pun, a terrible Christmas pun, playing off that Mariah Carey song, you know the once, yes you do. I'm a bad person for making this pun. I am so sorry.

New extortion scam email going round (this was received via a writer's website contact form). I've seen a number of these recently but without the money demand; the translation angle is also a new one

Got one of these recently from a slopbot claiming to be the Singapore Silent Book Club—which is a real thing that exists, so I checked with the organizer of the actual club, partly just to be entirely certain and also to give them a heads up that this shit is happening using their name.
