If I become a politician, my pitch:

We can have a yearslong orgy of hating, hurting, killing each other.

History records people choosing that.

We definitely can.

We also know for sure that after, when many of us are dead, all our problems will be worse.

As with other traditional, institutional forms of child abuse, it persists because it suits many sick people.
Someone could prob come up with a reasonable estimate of the number - but adding up all the assorted courtiers, hangers-on and satellite beneficiaries, it’s not a small number of people.

I’ve long considered condemning children to grow up under the grotesque psychological strain of being called ‘royal highness’, ‘majesty’, ‘prince/ss’, with all the disgusting and barely survivable implications of that, is clear child abuse.
Monarchy is institutional child abuse.

Covert exclusions. Detentions!! I could weep.
At traffic lights this summer I heard mother in another car on speakerphone arguing through tears w school about total impossibility for her of after-school detentions. Wanted to stop traffic, support her, cos been there. So much needless suffering.

Yes this is so important!
Our children are currently cells in spreadsheets serving the performance targets used to justify multi-academy trust boss’ grotesque salaries.
Been a parent of kids in school system for 35 years and I’ve watched its collapse into inhumane corporate shambles.

Every Labour meeting I ever went to / helped try to run harmoniously, constructively (confess I was simply never equal to the challenge) was bone-crushingly awful.
I only got through Labour meetings with kind of implied slant mantra - "It's for the greater good, somehow, some-day, right??!"
