Indeed. Or as I said in my case for liberal socialism, billionaires are intrinsic threats to political order. We should regulate billionaire fortunes for the same reason we regulate weapons of mass destruction.

Even if we taxed them enough to fund a utopia, billionaires would still be an existential threat to our country. That much concentrated wealth is too dangerous to be allowed to exist, even in an otherwise perfect society. It is inherently destructive, and nothing can fix that.

They are like black holes. They’re inherently destructive. They can’t help it. The sheer density of that much concentrated wealth warps and breaks down the fundamental support structures of capitalism, democracy, and liberal society.
