"Death of the Author" doesn't mean separating the author's bad behaviour from their art. It means taking away their authority and allowing readers to interpret the art based on their own perspectives. It doesn't absolve the author of being a bastard, in fact it may inform how you interpret the art.

When wealthy and powerful people make the deliberate choice to look like dogshit, via clothing or plastic surgery or what have you, it's a very odd mix of extremely cynical in-group signaling (I have enough money I can afford to look this bad and you can't say anything about it without consequences)
