I’m going to say again that the shutdown is the power consolidation. While Congress neuters itself, he’s simply taking control of what they can’t/won’t in their absence. And Democrats aren’t upping the ante in what it will take to reopen—namely demanding Article 1 powers be honored.

My main takeaway from the Trump administration's attacks on trans people and immigrant communities has been that the GOP and their judges have no floor. There's no lower bound below which they won't sink.

That informs my approach to questions like "Will Trump run for a third term?"
