Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray complied with a Justice Department request for the driver's license numbers and partial Social Security numbers of registered Wyoming voters.

That's drawn criticism from the nonpartisan League of Women Voters of Wyoming.

The data collection via Palantir makes the Nazi ‘Black Book’ for the invasion of Britain - a list of political enemies and Jews to be rounded up, basically - look positively tame.

NEW: What’s happening in the US is TECHNOFASCISM.

It’s fascism + surveillance technologies. Palantir is playing a central role. And the UK is next in line.

In Springfield, Ohio, people are preparing in advance of a “large deportation” promised by the president. To all appearances, the city is 2 or 3 days from a federal ethnic cleansing, grounded in a hate campaign organized by the vice-president and American Nazis.

We’re all in danger of this.

Do. Not. Accept. The. Premise.
And perceived ‘dangerous people’ should still have a trial.

Let us not lose sight of this.

There is no legal means by which a democracy can instruct the state to snatch *any* people off streets and have them imprisoned and / or deported without recourse to legal services, and a trial.
Murphy on Fox News Sunday: "I mean -- c'mon. We're still pretending that ICE is going after dangerous people? They aren't. What is happening in Minnesota right now is a dystopia. ICE is teargassing elementary schools, it is disappearing legal residents into cars, it is murdering American citizens."

Lord of the Flies

There is no rescue at the end; no civility to return to.

The officer returns the boys to a world that has killed children & used the atom bomb.

The “Coral Island” ref acknowledges that history repeats horrors thru centuries & down generations.

Yet so many read this as a rescue.

In early Feb 1939 my father was released from Dachau.

I don’t make comparisons about this lightly, as you might imagine.

What we’re hearing about conditions in US camps, & these terrifying mass roundups, makes it increasingly impossible not to make comparison.

If you’re on the ground & can help 🙏

For anyone at home in a warm safe house, please consider that until the Nazi government decided they weren’t, Jews had been ordinary citizens of Germany.

They were, simply, German.

Until it was declared that they weren’t.

My dad was released from Dachau on condition he left Germany within 2 weeks.

Had he not left, he would have been subject to rearrest. And as 100s of ‘November Jews’ had been killed in the camps, rearrest was a death sentence.

That’s not a million miles away from what’s going on in America today.

February was the month that Kitchener Camp first opened its gates to rescue 4,000 German Jews to Britain in 1939.

Occasionally, dad was in Kitchener, mum on a domestic service visa, and child on the Kindertransport - though this was rare.

Anyone know of collaborative data projects at state, regional, or national levels - for how many are being imprisoned?

We’re getting a handful of known faces and mass responses, with no idea what the scope is overall, as far as I can tell.

It’s a great system from US govt POV…
In amongst the daily whiplash of US events -

Anyone have a source for numbers detained / imprisoned so far - and numbers of people sent to another country?

My fellow civil servants would object that the order "find the 'nexus' of Democratic voters under tax audit" is illegal. But software need not raise these objections.

Hence broligarchs dream of software allowing them to order up repression without pesky civil servants in the loop.

To target a "criminal or immigration nexus" the software pulls Americans' personal data from across the government, including data from Health and Human Services and other agencies unrelated to law enforcement.

How did ICE and Palantir get all this data together?

Dispatching ICE agents to hit "groups of pre-defined aliens specifically targeted by Leadership for action," the software allows the administration to order up a goon squad wherever they want, at the touch of a button.

Like Uber for authoritarians. Let's call it repression as a service.
